UIL Progresses with Their Play

Partitioning When Auditioning: UIL members who are auditioning for Smile Nd Nod practice their lines with each other. All members who wish to audition break up into small groups or separate to practice alone before auditioning in front of the directors. Junior UIL company member Andrew Gonzales said, “the writing process was really fun since we are going to go through different worlds and explore all of these ventures as it’s over with. Now that we’re actually auditioning for the scenes, it’s really interesting to see the plotline of the play from the actor’s perspective rather than the writer’s perspective.”
With the plot for Smile Nd Nod being finalized, UIL moves on to phase two: auditions, which were held Tuesday, April 11, after school. Directors will decide who they want to see again and announce their callbacks on Wednesday, April 12. While their cast list is being determined, the crew list sign-ups will also be there for anyone who wishes to join a crew. The first after-school rehearsal will be held on Thursday, April 13, and will continue (after school) every day until show days (the days they will perform). Besides everything going on with the play Smile Nd Nod, middle schools started their first site rehearsals on Tuesday, April 11, and Wednesday, April 12, which was run by Cadre.
