Kerr Claims UIL Academic District Sweepstakes Title

On March 28, 2026, Kerr High School earned 1st Place Sweepstakes at the UIL Academic District 20 & UIL 6A competition at George Ranch High School, taking home the highest overall team score, with students placing across 15 events.

Rising Popstar: Ashlyn Yencle (11) is singing the song the "Mi Todo" on the main stage theater for Choir's Pop Show. As she sings, she dances with her duet partner, making a night people will never forget. "I was In my happy place, I felt really happy because I was doing what I loved most, I was singing, dancing, and performing," Yencle said.

Artificially funny: The scene comes to a close as Xabian Esparza (9), Elysha Stiles (11), and Noah McBride (10) rehearse a scene from 2026 Smile N Nod. They lead characters Zara Larsson, bad bunny, and Michael B Jordan to the resolution of the show. "I think this year's show was especially funny, I'm going to miss a lot of parts of it so I'm really excited to see what's in store for next year's too" Stiles said.

Moving Bows: Cambiata Orchestra performs at the Spring Concert in the Main Stage Theater. This orchestra group performed lastly to end the season off with a kick. "It was very nice to watch Cambiata perform after I got done performing with my group because it gave me a break to enjoy the concert myself," Safa Karim said.

Test Ready: Junior Marlin Cueva studies for the US History STAAR EOC using the Texas Assessment practice test website outside during advisory time. With EOC coming up, she brought it on herself to work for a higher score. "You have to keep your discipline because it all depends on you. Teachers are not bothering you with it. So if you want a good grade, you have to be disciplined with it."

StuCo officers holding awards they’ve won for getting sweepstakes for their state report. “It was such a fun trip, we learned so much about leadership and got to spend time with each other.” Nguyen said.
