Erica Carranza and Sochi Egbune prepare their case for the Dobie Tournament on Friday, September 8 during a general meeting on September 5. They researched and prepared an affirmative case against life-long term limits for federal judiciaries. “Working with a group of people who care as much as you do is really nice,” says Erica. “I can’t wait for this Friday!”
Speech and Debate members gathered after school September 5 in preparation for their first tournament taking place this Friday and Saturday at Dobie High School. While new members learned about different events in the speech room, competing students were divided into seminar rooms to prepare for the competition. The World Schools team, LASER, went into room 531 and worked on establishing the first of two cases for this tournament. Moreover, the team mentored the novice World Schools team when writing their case.
While a team of new faces is seen, the work and practice are all the same.
