Texas Success Initiative Testing Trailer visits Kerr

On Thursday, January 29 and Friday, January 30, a Texas Success Initiative (TSI) testing trailer from the Houston Community College Remote Lab visited the school campus to allow students the opportunity to take the TSI test.

The TSI test is a college readiness indicator used to determine if students will be able to handle college-level work in dual-credit courses and is required for all students taking dual-credit courses from HCC.

The cafeteria was cleared out, and the tables were arranged in a “U” shape to create a space for everyone to socialize. “It was a bit difficult setting everything up during fourth period, but we managed to finish in time,” Desi Club president Meerab Arif said.

Alief Hosts Horus Scholars Event
Tracking Volunteer Contributions: Members review their tutoring documentation during the November 13th advisory meeting. The club discussed upcoming competitions, including the Texas Math League and Mu Alpha Theta, while reinforcing the importance of mentoring and volunteer hours. Members are required to log weekly tutoring sessions to maintain active status in the club. “This helps us track our hours and stay committed," Princess Eche said.

Perfecting the Notes: Clarinet players Ifetayo Taiwo and Taylor Nguyen practice ahead of their Honor Band auditions. They dedicated hours of preparation on their clarinet pieces to ensure their performances stood out. “It’s an intense process, but I think it’s worth it to make it,” Taiwo said.
