DRESS FOR SUCCESS, Erica Carranza and Leah Ghebrelul, freshmen Cadre ensemble members, get ready for the first dress rehearsal of the show “Orange”. The show’s actors get 30 minutes to get ready and put on their costumes, in which most either set a timer or “trust the process” during this period. Carranza states “Overall I’ve felt confident since the beginning, not because we started off like so amazing, but because I just decided to trust the process. I’m actually really excited to see how well we can pull off our quick changes as well as choreography.”

Cadre Kerr begins week seven of the show “Orange” with dress rehearsals every day this week, wearing their respective character’s costumes. Each day, the performers have till 3 p.m. to put on as much makeup as they can and wear their costumes just as quickly. The ongoing dress rehearsals serve as preparation for the performance nights. The actors rehearse changing into their costumes backstage in order to acquire a feel for what to expect on show night and to ensure that they don’t miss their cues. The directors, Jason Quach and Masoud Said, as well as the tech director, Julie Ryan, are, on the other hand, monitoring the performance from the house or the audience, noting what needs to be changed, as well as, requiring the actors and technicians to answer with a thank you or a query afterward. When they are done with the day, the technicians strike or clear the stage so that it’s ready for the run the following day.
