Spill the Beans: A guide to delicious homemade hummus

Hummus is a simple yet delicious Middle Eastern food that has become widely enjoyed because of one special quality-its delicious taste. A quick walk through the international food aisle at your local grocery store and this 10-minute recipe will allow you to create your own delicious hummus.

Makes around 1 ½ cups of hummus

Ingredients:

1 can of chickpeas (~15 ounces)

1 teaspoon of minced garlic

¼ cup of lemon juice

3 tablespoon of tahini

3 tablespoons olive oil

A pinch of pepper

Optional ingredients:

1 tablespoon cumin

1 tablespoon plain yogurt

Directions:

  • Open the can of chickpeas and drain the liquid.
  • Place the beans into a food processor (a blender will work as well).
  • Blend the peas until the texture is smooth.
  • Add all other ingredients to the food processor and blend to a thickness of your liking (you can keep checking by turning the processor off and testing the hummus with a spoon).
  • Remove the finished hummus from the processor with a spoon or plastic spatula.
  • Serve as a dip, dressing, or paste with your favorite chips or pita breadHUMMUS EDITED
