Speech and Debate prepares for Katy Taylor
October 28, 2011
Speech and Debate prepares for their upcoming tournament at Katy Taylor High School on November 18, 2011. With a mix of novice and varsity members, Speech plans on taking first place in sweepstakes as it did at South Houston.
Sophomore Krystal U. , a varsity members of Speech and Debate, is preparing herself both physically and mentally for Katy Taylor while juggling between Band, Theater and keeping her grades up.

“I have to practice my lines for ‘Macbeth,’ practice for my upcoming audition for Honors Band, prepare my arguments and brush up on my speaking skills, and on top of all that I have to manage my grades, keeping all A’s in my classes.”
Krystal, who is currently taking Debate 1 as a class, relates to the quote on the chalkboard in the speech room: “Happiness can be found in the darkest of times” ~ Albus Dumbledor.
“Although I can manage my time and prioritized between Speech, Theater, Band, and my grades, I feel dead on the inside. But my passion for my hobbies keeps me going every day— its what I live for. I know that all my hard work and preparation will result in happy moments in the future when I accomplish my goals.”
