Band prepares for upcoming performance at Band Day

Kerr Wind Ensemble is preparing to play at Band Day at 10 AM on October 6 at Crump Stadium.

Every year, all the Alief high school bands gather at Crump to perform thier marching shows for junior high band students. Although Kerr’s band will not be marching, members will be performing their music by memory, just as a marching band does, and they will be doing so on the actual field.

Band director Ashley Siegrist also stated that since Kerr cannot afford marching equipment for percussionists, they will be using trash cans instead. She hopes for them to perform something along the lines of “Stomp,” a famous percussionist group who use trash cans and other material instead of actual instruments. Seigrist is excited for the performance, as this will be the first time in five years that the Kerr band has performed at Band Day.

Also, Autumn in Italy is scheduled for October 14. Tickets will be going on sale soon for $12 pre-sale and $15 at the door. There will be an Italian dinner and a basket auction following.
