Senior Jessica G. placed fifth in ready writing at the UIL practice competition in Needville last month. 

After receiving  the quote “Any fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius-and a lot of courage-to move in the opposite direction.” (Albert Einstein), Jessica quickly used this prompt to write an essay that earned her fifth place out of 20 competitors. 

The practice was Jessica’s first attempt in the competition.

“Although it was just a practice competition, I got the experience that I needed for the real one,” she  said. “For the real competition, I intend to know more about the world and what’s going on so that I would be more knowledgeable and hopefully know what I’m writing about instead of not knowing.”
