Administration Prepares For Break

FREE DESSERT The Class of 2026 is hosting its first social on Tuesday, October 3 from 2:30 to 4:30. The event is open to all students. “To ensure that there will be enough ice cream for everyone, please fill out the RSVP form in our bio indicating your interest in attending,” said the class of 2026 Instagram post. “There will also be music, so feel free to submit any song suggestions you may have.”

Fall Open House took place September 26. This upcoming Friday, September 29, there will be a Food Frenzy. The class of 2026 will be having an Ice Cream Social on Tuesday, October 3 after school. There will be no early dismissal next Wednesday, October 4. Thursday, October 5, and Friday, October 6 will be a Student/Staff Holiday.

Bring Your Dish: ASA and Desi Club officers set up tables for members to enjoy the food. The cafeteria was cleared out, and the tables were arranged in a “U” shape to create a space for everyone to socialize. “It was a bit difficult setting everything up during fourth period, but we managed to finish in time,” Desi Club president Meerab Arif said.

Staying Prepared: Counselor Laura Tully speaks to seniors about applying for FAFSA/TASFA. Students are required to complete the form since it is a requirement for graduation. "Know that we're here to help," Tully said.

Geared Up: News reporter Brooke Kushwaha interviews Senior Iqra Naveed. Kushwaha asked questions about Naveed’s college application and what she is deciding to do after high school. “I wasn’t expecting anyone to interview me at the event, but it was fun,” Naveed said.
Alief Hosts Horus Scholars Event
Tracking Volunteer Contributions: Members review their tutoring documentation during the November 13th advisory meeting. The club discussed upcoming competitions, including the Texas Math League and Mu Alpha Theta, while reinforcing the importance of mentoring and volunteer hours. Members are required to log weekly tutoring sessions to maintain active status in the club. “This helps us track our hours and stay committed," Princess Eche said.

Perfecting the Notes: Clarinet players Ifetayo Taiwo and Taylor Nguyen practice ahead of their Honor Band auditions. They dedicated hours of preparation on their clarinet pieces to ensure their performances stood out. “It’s an intense process, but I think it’s worth it to make it,” Taiwo said.
