Five advance to state in Choir contest

February 24, 2011

Five students will advance to state Choir competition after earning awards February 19 at the UIL Solo & Ensemble competition.

Destiny Cannon, Tina Nguyen, Trung Pham, Isaac Bancroft, and Brandon Dao have advanced to the UIL State Solo & Ensemble contest in Austin at the end of May.

The following students received a medal for a first division rating: Kit Chan, Kevin Chu, Keiren Velez, Deborah Adenote, Kristi Arroyo, Linh Do, Nina Hua, Lan Mach, Brenda Mburu, Annie Nguyen, Elohor Okene, Uwaila Okundaye, Nancy Pham, and Gia Tran.

Almayra Porrata-Doria, Nesha Smith-Bray, Monique Morris, Jennifer Torres, and Yvette Vo recieved and excellent rating at UIL Solo & Ensemble.

Following hard sectional training, the band gathered for a full ensemble session, where they improved their synchronization and togetherness as a whole. Getting that time to work together as a whole really helps us bond and perform at our best, Raiyyan Khan said.

Voices of Alief Hosted a Meeting
Sip and Type Erica Carranza, Sarah Abi Saab, Abigail Nguyen, and Leah Ghebrelul meet up at Kims Tea House afterschool on Tuesday to prepare for a mock round on Thursday. During their time there, they researched the impacts of AI on disinformation. Im not the biggest fan of this motion, but Im still excited, Nguyen said.
