Kerr Hosting TFA Speech & Debate Tournament

The Kerr Speech and Debate hosted Kerr 2023 Speech and Debate Tournament on January 29, for students from the Alief schools along with out-of-district schools. The tournament is a Texas Forensic Association (TFA) qualifying and NIETOC bid tournament. The categories of this competition are as follows: Public Speaking, which is separated into Extemporaneous Speaking, Informative Speaking; Oral interpretation includes Humorous Interpretation, Dramatic Interpretation, Prose, Poetry, Program Oral Interpretation, and Duo Acting; Congressional Debates, and World School. The competition was both a bonding experience and an opportunity for many teams to gain experience. “We had judges who were teachers, students, and family members…We formed many new relationships with people around our community while having fun!” Said Kerr Speech and Debate Officer Nyla Whiteside.
