‘Black Renaissance’ Presented
Kerr’s first Black History Month Program, “Black Renaissance,” played in the theater on March 1 after school. With live performances from Jazz Band playing different genres of music throughout black history and students reciting poetry and prose by black poets and novelists. The program also included a documentary portion, covering black literature and musical contributions to American culture. The creators hope there will be similar projects done by future students to recognize and celebrate the history of different minority groups.
