Speech Learning and Winning
On the week of September 22, Speech and Debate members attended a meeting where they learned how to “research effectively and walk correctly” when giving their speeches, according to the club’s treasurer Joshua Romero.
On Friday, September 24, the team experienced their first in-person tournament at Memorial High School. Some notable distinctions include juniors Sheila Nguyen and Al Nahiyan, which placed 9th and 11th respectively in Varsity Congress. Freshmen Diego Salgado, Chikanyima Brown-Nkemdirim, and Abigail Nguyen also semi-finaled in novice Extemp.
The next speech in debate meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 29 at 2:30pm.
