Bond passes with 72 percent approval

All the music groups met in the band hall on Tuesday, November 8 to practice for the holiday concert.

Voters approved Alief ISD’s proposed $341 million bond with  72.3 percent approval Saturday.

In addition to a new fine arts building for Kerr, the bond issue covers security upgrades on many campuses, additional gym space at all middle schools, new buses, a Career and Technology Center, and other repairs and improvements throughout the district..

Dedre’ “Dede” Jefferson was elected to the Position 4 seat in the special Board of Trustees election, which was also on the same ballot.

Total voter turnout was 1,148.
