Generation Texas hosts video contest Nov. 18-22

Generation Texas (GenTX) will be having a video contest from Monday, November 18 to Friday, November 22, Students are expected to record a two -to three-minutes video showing how a challenge they experienced in high school will help them succeed in college.

Students who wish to participate must fill out an online video entry form by November 22, 12 PM (CST).

The form entry can be found at: http://gentx.org/takethechallenge/online-video-entry-form/the-form/.

The top five videos will be uploaded to YouTube for official voting on Thursday, December 5, and the winner will be announced on Friday, December 6. The top video will receive a $1500 scholarship (which is only viable to seniors, while freshmen, sophomores and juniors are eligible for a $1500 prize).

During the contest period, the school with the most college applications submitted through ApplyTexas.org will be awarded $1000.

The video entry form will also ask students to nominate a teacher. The ten teachers with the most nominations will be featured on the GenTX website and receive a T-shirt.

They conducted a catalase test on E.Coli. “It was my first time teaching others how to do the test, but they’re doing so good because they listen so well,” Ogilvie said
SNHS Hosts Young Biologist Program
Carrying The Load: Treasurer Jenny Luong and member Emely Vicente help by moving mulch to each newly planted tree. They planted trees across Alief’s Wilcrest block. “It was hard carrying the wheelbarrow but it was still fun,” Luong said.
SFH and STUCO Participate in Tree Planting
Dress to Impress: Sophomores Helin Wang and Samantha Shields participate in Homecoming Spirit Week, dressing for the theme Dynamic Duo. They dressed up as Sophia Grace and Rosie, wearing a pink tutu and a white shirt with the Ellen DeGeneres logo. "I like how creative we were with this outfit," Shields said.
Changes In Homecoming Week
SAT Prep Session: Kerr Math Club members focus on their SAT practice worksheets, working through math problems to sharpen their skills. Students were given SAT problems as part of their preparation for the upcoming PSAT tests later in the week. In small groups, they collaborated to tackle each question, sharing tips and strategies for success. “The practice questions are really helpful for refreshing our memories,” Dylan Nguyen said.
