Senior Jamie Wells earned Best of Show from the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo 3D art contest for Southeast Texas.
“I couldn’t believe it because things that usually win are extreme realism,” Wells said. ” My sculpture was creative and scary to many people, because I combined a human face on a turtle.”
Her sculpture, Ancient Safeguard, will go to an auction with the bid starting at $2000.00. The final earnings will be given to Wells as a scholarship for any university in Texas.
Wells is the first student from Kerr to win in both the 2D and 3D categories as well as the Best of Show at Rodeo.
