Junior French horn player, Edgar Contreras, won the second chair French horn position for the Region Full Orchestra Philharmonic. He was the only student from Alief that auditioned among other students from districts such as Katy and HISD.
Even though he was competing against students with larger facilities, Contreras was able to earn second chair at the 5A level due to his dedication and hard work, according to orchestra director Charlotte King.
