Kolk named Alief Teacher of the Year

Jan Kolk was named Alief ISD’s Secondary Teacher of the Year at the recognition ceremony Thursday night.
Kolk is the first Kerr teacher to win the top honors in the district.
Alief recognizes one elementary teacher and one secondary teacher each year from among campus teachers of the year.
Kolk is the special education teacher at Kerr and at Alief Early College High School. In addition, she runs the Good Habits after school program, sponsors the Class of 2014, organizes campus staff development and serves on the Shared Decision-Making Committee.

Well deserved! I really appreciated all the students and staff who made signs, attended the ceremony, and cheered for Mrs. Kolk. I’m very proud to be a part of such a wonderful school and coworker with such an amazing educator!
