No afterschool activities TAKS week

April 21, 2011

Afterschool activities will not be allowed April 26-29 due to TAKS.

Students will not be able to stay on campus after school.

Late buses will be available only for students finishing their TAKS tests after the dismissal.

Wednesday will not be an early dismissal day.

Bring Your Dish: ASA and Desi Club officers set up tables for members to enjoy the food. The cafeteria was cleared out, and the tables were arranged in a “U” shape to create a space for everyone to socialize. “It was a bit difficult setting everything up during fourth period, but we managed to finish in time,” Desi Club president Meerab Arif said.

Alief Hosts Horus Scholars Event
Tracking Volunteer Contributions: Members review their tutoring documentation during the November 13th advisory meeting. The club discussed upcoming competitions, including the Texas Math League and Mu Alpha Theta, while reinforcing the importance of mentoring and volunteer hours. Members are required to log weekly tutoring sessions to maintain active status in the club. “This helps us track our hours and stay committed," Princess Eche said.

Perfecting the Notes: Clarinet players Ifetayo Taiwo and Taylor Nguyen practice ahead of their Honor Band auditions. They dedicated hours of preparation on their clarinet pieces to ensure their performances stood out. “It’s an intense process, but I think it’s worth it to make it,” Taiwo said.
