The humanitarian organization Liberty in North Korea (LiNK) will be visiting the school on Thursday, April 7, to speak to students. There will be two assemblies in the cafeteria: the first for freshmen and seniors, held at 8:00 A.M., and the second for sophomores and juniors, at 9:25 A.M. LiNK representatives will show a documentary about their organization and then answer questions. Students will also be able to buy T-Shirts and other trinkets in order to support LiNK.
LiNK’s mission is to assist refugees fleeing the Communist regime in North Korea. According to LiNK’s website, many of these refugees go to China, where they are unwelcome and where many of the women end up in the sex trade. LiNK works to help refugees out of China into more receptive Southeast Asian countries. In accordance with LiNK’s policy, 100% of Thursday’s proceeds will be used to this end.
