Staffing changes will be considered for next school year’s budget, according to an email sent last week from newly appointed Superintendent HD Chambers to Alief staff members.
No involuntary cuts in staff have been proposed as personnel would be reassigned to different positions, and the position of resigning or retiring personnel would not be replaced under the current propose budget changes for next year.
Last month the Kerronicle wrote that the district had not proposed any significant budget changes for next year, but due to recent activity in the state legislature that the district estimates will result in a loss of $10 to $25 million for district funds each year for the next biennium, a preliminary plans has been made to change next year’s district budget.
Under the propose budget plan, salaries would also remain constant, and programs would not be eliminated.
The district tax rate would not be increased, and student-to-teacher ratio will “remain relatively the same,” according to Chambers.
