The 2010 Safari Yearbook is among the Stars after being nominated for a prestigious state award.
The Star Awards are presented by the Interscholastic League Press Conference, the journalism branch of the University Interscholastic League. Schools across the state submit their newspapers and yearbooks for judges’ evaluation; top-rated publications receive the rating of “Distinguished Merit,”and the best of those are also entered into competition for ILPC’s prestigious Gold, Silver and Bronze Star awards. Recipients of the Star Awards represent the top 10 percent of student newspapers and yearbooks in Texas.
Although not all books nominated will receive a Star Award, to be nominated is an honor itself. A panel of judges will meet in March to make the final decision on Star Awards.
Star awards will be presented at the Grand Awards Assembly, April 10, at the conclusion of the ILPC Convention. Members of the 2011 Safari and Kerronicle newspaper staffs will attend the awards assembly.

Congratulations on this well deserved honor. As a former yearbook editor, I know the amount of hard work, creativity, and group support it takes to publish even a mediocre yearbook. You have gone beyond to create a publication worthy of distinction. You make us proud! Keep up the Kerr-ific work.
