FEMS in STEM Hosts First General Meeting

Find Community: Sophomore Yahan Dai and senior Oreofe Awokoya work on an experiment together in the biology lab. FEMS and STEM officers, and new members joined together for their first general meeting where they outlined many new upcoming activities and important information. “I had so much fun,” said Dai.

FEMS in STEM kicked off its first general meeting on Tuesday, September 16, in the biology lab. After school, club officers and new members played various fun icebreakers to encourage everyone to get to know each other. Officers then outlined new volunteering opportunities, upcoming events, and important information. Concluding the meeting, new members were able to participate in an experiment, extracting DNA from a strawberry.

Engineering Club Hosts First Interest Meeting
The Teletubby Network: Seniors Chelsea Eboh , Janet Duong, Lisa Lee, Chloe Roberts, and Ryan Nguyen, dressed up as Teletubbies for Senior Week: Teams Time. They also took photos with their own digital camera. "There are only 4 Teletubbies but 5 officers and they all chose their Teletubbies color before I could read the group chat and choose mine. Since I was the only one without a color, we had the funny idea that I should dress up as the sun," Eboh said.
Seniors Dressed Up For Senior Week
The Beginning: Students for Humanity officers, senior Jenney Luong, senior Michella Dao, sophomore Mariam Alimi, sophomore Katelyn Nguyen, Junior Aresema Hagos, and sponsor Karen Orta gather with new members in the cafeteria. The officers outline the club’s mission and planned volunteer events for the upcoming year, encouraging students to join their community efforts. “We can’t wait to see what this year has in store,” said Officer Nguyen.

"It was pretty surreal because I wasn't sure what to expect or whether I should smile. I had originally planned not to smile since I usually look awkward, but after finishing the photos, I ended up liking the ones where I smiled the most," Ramos said.
