SNHS Hosts General Meeting

Heart In Hand: Jenny Tran, Jessica Nguyen, and Kamie Le make heart crystals. The hearts were made out of borax and members were allowed to keep them if they wanted to. “Making the crystals felt like I was back in elementary doing simple experiments,” Le said.

Science National Honor Society hosted its third general meeting of the year on Monday, February 10. The meeting occurred in the biology lab after school from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM. In the meeting, officers went over important information like they will be retaking club photos on Thursday, February 13 at 1:40 PM and that there will be a Young Biologist Program on Saturday, February 15 from 10 AM to 12 PM. The meeting then concluded with everyone making borax crystals out of borax, jars, popsicle sticks, string, tape, and pipe cleaners.

Connecting With Younger Generation: Senior Jenny Nguyen cuts prints outs for zipline activity. She is in charge of the tower building station, where cups and popsicle sticks are given to students to build the towers. "It was fun seeing how the kids were competing to build the tallest tower," Nguyen said.
NHS Volunteers at STEM Night
Hard At Work: Ashley Chavez and Katelyn Tieu sort through donated boxes. They scanned the donated goods to see if they were okay to keep, trash, or put in different categories. "It was a lot of work," Tieu said.
SFH Goes To Houston Food Bank
A Wonderful Speech: NHS officers Rebecca Oyeniyi and Muhammad Annas speak at the induction ceremony. They waited to start calling names and pass out the candles. "It went by really fast," Oyeniyi said.

Pie flies, teacher cries: Esai Alvear Moreno pies Band Director Nikola Nikolovski. In between the alphabet auction, students had a chance to pie one of the teachers. "We just wanted to have some fun, and it felt gratifying to pie him," Moreno said.
