NHS Hosts Induction Ceremony

A Wonderful Speech: NHS officers Rebecca Oyeniyi and Muhammad Annas speak at the induction ceremony. They waited to start calling names and pass out the candles. “It went by really fast,” Oyeniyi said.

National Honor Society held an induction ceremony for new members on Monday, February 3. It was rescheduled multiple times, the last date being Thursday, January 23. Inductees along with their families and friends were in attendance. The ceremony lasted about 1 hour from 6 PM to 7 PM in the mainstage theater. NHS officers, Sponsor Toni Maness-Richards, Principal Sara Tones, and Teacher of the Year Meredith Freeman spoke during the ceremony, discussing the new NHS chapter at Kerr. Drinks and cake was served following the end of the ceremony.

A Successful Rehearsal: NHS inductees practiced for their upcoming induction ceremony after school in the cafeteria. They were provided with markers to represent the candles. "I can't wait for the induction ceremony," Olivia Nguyen said.
NHS Prepares Inductees
Rooted in Giving: Harris County Commissioner Lesley Briones along with others held a ceremony to recognize the Alief Super Neighborhood Council and Barbara Quattro. Their projects had helped improve the environment. "We are grateful for you," Briones said.

Welcomed With Open Arms: Treasurer Beyonce Vallecillo and Secretary Rebecca Oyeniyi pin inductee. Oyeniyi hands the inductee his acceptance envelope while Vallecillo pins him with the club's colored ribbons. "It was kind of awkward," Oyeniyi said.

In formation! Vanna Do, Haley Ngo, Brittanee Giang, Cindy Pham, and Eliana Dinh practice dance routine. Do led the group, staying in sync with the music. "I started to get the hang of it as we went along," Do said.
