NHS Prepares Inductees

A Successful Rehearsal: NHS inductees practiced for their upcoming induction ceremony after school in the cafeteria. They were provided with markers to represent the candles. “I can’t wait for the induction ceremony,” Olivia Nguyen said.

National Honor Society officers and Sponsor Toni Maness-Richards prepared newly inducted members on Tuesday, January 28 after school in the foreign language center. New members were first given instructions and carnation bags to sell. Members who fail to sell a bag will receive a point debt. Then, they went to the cafeteria to practice their induction ceremony, which will take place next week on Monday, February 3. There were 4 pillars in the cafeteria that they used as lines. Members were arranged in alphabetical order and were given markers as fake candles.

Anticipating Win. Math Teacher Karen Orta receives certificate from Sales Manager Mike Biglow. Orta also received a full package of perks. "I will go here with my kids," Orta said.
Orta Wins Teacher of the Month
Celebrating Smiles. Assistant Principal Christopher Perkins, Science Teacher Meredith Freeman, and Principal Sara Tones pose for photo. Perkins and Tones worked together to orchestrate the surprise. "Thank you everyone," Freeman said.
Freeman Achieves Teacher of the Year
The Perfect Bloom: Seniors Rebecca Draper and Urooj Hashmi make a poster for carnation sales. They worked after-school to add logistical information. "It was fun drawing the carnation flowers," Draper said.
