ASA Celebrates Culture with Games

Friendly Competition: Members of the African Students Association engage in a lively round of “Cup in the Middle” using shoes during their November 4th meeting. The game required focus and quick reflexes as participants aimed to grab the right shoe at the perfect moment. This interactive activity added a burst of energy to the gathering, making it much more competitive. “It’s always great to relax and enjoy moments like these together,” Janet Odeoye said.

The African Students Association (ASA) hosted a lively meeting on November 4th, filled with games, discussions, and snacks. Members started off by planning upcoming events, including a potluck to celebrate and share African cuisine and traditions. The meeting then shifted to an African-themed Jeopardy game, where students tested their knowledge on African culture, history, and geography. They continued with a game of “Cup in the Middle,” followed by rounds of Uno, bringing out everyone’s competitive spirit. The gathering concluded with students enjoying snacks and socializing.

"For my city qualifiers tournament, I found it very fun and unique from others. I think that CASE tournaments allowed for all the congressional debaters to bond with eachother, and so rather than feeling you did bad after rounds, you felt like you had a group supporting your back! Overall it was very fun," Nguyen said.

A Tourist At Home: Meerab Arif takes photos of Franzi Desai, Iqra Naveed, Sarah Tahtouh, and Tanisha Patel. They dressed up as tourists for 'Dress Up As A Tourist' Tuesday. "It's fun dressing up, so I'm trying to do it throughout the week," Arif said.
Desi Club Hosts Dress Up Week
Strength in Struggles: Motivational speaker Tory Gant speaks on stage. He presented making healthy life choices. "Make choices you want to look like," Grant said.
Sophomores Attend YES Presentation
Staying Updated: Officers present upcoming events with important information. They used four different QR codes that seniors can scan to fill out and sign-up. "It is mandatory that you sign-up for Remind," Isabella Le said.
Senior Officers Discuss Events
Heart In Hand: Jenny Tran, Jessica Nguyen, and Kamie Le make heart crystals. The hearts were made out of borax and members were allowed to keep them if they wanted to. "Making the crystals felt like I was back in elementary doing simple experiments," Le said.
