Victor Nguyen is a Junior.
Q: What’s your favorite hobby or activity to do outside of school?
A: My favorite activity is watching YouTube videos to fuel my crippling food addiction (I desperately need snacks).
Q: Have you discovered any new music or artists lately that you really enjoy?
A: I recently discovered “Nobody” by Mitski. It’s stuck in my head 24/7.
Q: Do you have any pets? If so, what are their names and what do you love most about them?
A: Do fish count? Younger me used to have lore for the original fish we had, but now I want our fish tank to explode.
Q: What’s the most exciting place you’ve ever visited on vacation?
A: The “Most Exciting Place” award goes to the concert venue for Beyonce’s Renaissance Tour in Toronto, or the CN Tower that is also there. Following close behind was going to Portillo’s in Florida because I got to try their chocolate cake shake (it’s literally a chocolate cake slice in a milkshake)
Q: Are there any movies or TV shows you’re really into right now?
A: I’m currently waiting for the opportunity to watch a new episode of The Rookie, a cop show. My sister and I have been hooked by this show to the point it’s distracting us from our work.
Q: Do you have any special talents or skills that you’re proud of?
A: I guess one special skill I’m proud of is playing the cello. It was quite nice getting 1’s for solo and ensemble, and for the orchestra to get sweeps for UIL. For some reason, my parents are really adamant about me not pursuing a musical career even though I have never expressed to them any interest in doing so.
Q: What’s your favorite thing to do on weekends or during your free time?
A: I like driving on the weekends when my sister or dad are having me drive for them; it’s really fun driving a two-ton box of steel on wheels. Then, I also like driving in Gran Turismo 7, though I haven’t played it in a while.
Q: Have you ever tried any new foods recently that you really liked?
A: I recently tried coconut cream pie for the first time and it’s quite delicious for those who have good tastes in pie. I also went to this restaurant called Terry’s Black BBQ and it truly had me munching.
Q: Are there any sports or outdoor activities you enjoy playing?
A: I’m not a sports person, but it’s always entertaining to watch. I don’t do outdoor activities unless eating outside counts.
Q: Do you have any upcoming plans or goals you’re working towards?
A: It’s quite a while away for now, but I’m currently hoping to get my license in late May or early June, and then get a job during the summer. I’m also working on my audition to hopefully join the Houston Youth Symphony.
