Shalom Akinkunmi and Naseem Saeed work on enhancing Saeed’s oratory piece. She is a novice speaker who has been working on her piece since 8 grade. “I was born for oratory,” said Saeed.
On Saturday, January 20, the speech and debate team will be competing at MacArthur Senior High School at 7 AM. This is the second to last tournament of the CASE circuit. There are approximately 20 entries representing the team at this competition, and students stayed after school on Monday, January 8, in preparation. Meetings will continue to take place in the week before the competition, and competitors will work on perfecting their cases. Following this tournament, the team hopes to have at least 5 state-qualified competitors.
