Ceramics Turning Stories Into Art
Janine Ms. Dyke’s Ceramics 3 classes are wrapping up their project inspired by Tammy Garcia, an indigenous ceramicist. The students are studying her tribal symbols and discussed how to define culture for themselves. Especially in such a diverse community like Alief, Ms. Dykes is determined to help her students better understand their roots. Students are making their own ceramic vessels with key elements coming from Garcia’s works but with their own twists. The project is scheduled to be finished by the end of this term.
