What Is Orchestra?

While most know it as an elective class for musicians, those who join it see it as something different. To them, it is a haven. Their instruments and performances are not only a form of art, it is a way to express one’s emotions and state of mind, to cope with one’s stress through sound. Through their performance, these auditory artists can overcome their anxiety.

How Can I Join?

Students can join by asking the director, Cynthia King, to audition. Anyone about to be a freshman can sign up for it with their schedule. Do expect a fee, though, as you will be held responsible!

What About Upcoming Events?

Orchestra regularly meets during the 3rd Period in the Orchestra Hall to discuss events and management.

An upcoming event is Movie Night! It will start on Tuesday, August 30, from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM, in Orchestra Hall. No tickets are needed, but outside food/beverages are not allowed. Don’t worry since there will be concessions. Come and watch Disney Pixar’s Soul!

Another event is a chamber orchestra audition held by Virtuosi of Houston Gala and its renowned conductors, Franz Anton Krager and Andrzej Grabiec! Virtuosi is a chamber orchestra ensemble that trains and perfects young and aspiring musicians regardless of who they are. The auditions will be from September 10, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. to September 11, 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
