Alief celebrates 100th anniversary this week

On February 14, Alief Independent School District celebrates its hundredth year of teaching and educating students.

The district chose the 100th day of school to celebrate its growth from a rural area to the diverse community that is now.

All around Alief, students participated in the “Alief: 100 Years of Love” video and art contests. High school students could submit a video about why the love Alief and why it was so special to them, while elementary students could create art showing their love for Alief.

The Finale: President Iris Hoang-Dugan conducts experiment with club member Maria Bongah. She dips her paint brush in a mixture of baking soda and water to write on the piece of paper without it showing. "It was fun looking at the final pieces," Hoang-Dugan said.
SNHS Hosts Last General Meeting
Pose for the camera! Beyonce Vallecillo takes post-prom photos at City Center. She chose the rooftop as a scenic backdrop to capture lasting prom memories. “I had so much fun getting ready and taking prom pictures,” Vallecillo said.
Students Celebrate Prom Night
Stay on the know: Officers Helin Wang and Regina Tan gave out cords to seniors who qualified for a graduation cord. There were changes made to the cord requirements, with less activities required. "Make sure to wear it at graduation," Wang said.
SFH Hosts Last Meeting
Reaching Out Class Officer candidates create Instagram posts the week before elections to gain votes. With many students running this year, elections have been very competitive. "Keep pushing forward, even if it takes one, two, or three attempts," junior candidate Sean McClain said. "That way, even if you’ve lost, you can take pride in knowing you truly gave it your all."
