Cropped Photo Contest Feb. 20

Kerronicle and Safari Yearbook will be hosting the Cropped Photo Contest on Monday, February 20, which will end promptly on Sunday, February 26.

Shoot a photo that follows the theme “My Motivation.” Email your photo to [email protected] by 11:59 PM Monday, February 20. You MUST use your school email or include it in the message.

Half the entries will get CROPPED; the other half will be posted on Kerronicle.com, and the photographers will be given the theme for Tuesday. Each day, there’s a new theme; every night, half the photos get CROPPED, until 1 photographer remains.

Photos will be judged on creativity, composition and theme. No filters! The winning photo will be announced on Monday, February 27. The winner will receive a $25 VISA gift card.

Bring Your Dish: ASA and Desi Club officers set up tables for members to enjoy the food. The cafeteria was cleared out, and the tables were arranged in a “U” shape to create a space for everyone to socialize. “It was a bit difficult setting everything up during fourth period, but we managed to finish in time,” Desi Club president Meerab Arif said.

Staying Prepared: Counselor Laura Tully speaks to seniors about applying for FAFSA/TASFA. Students are required to complete the form since it is a requirement for graduation. "Know that we're here to help," Tully said.

Geared Up: News reporter Brooke Kushwaha interviews Senior Iqra Naveed. Kushwaha asked questions about Naveed’s college application and what she is deciding to do after high school. “I wasn’t expecting anyone to interview me at the event, but it was fun,” Naveed said.
Alief Hosts Horus Scholars Event
Tracking Volunteer Contributions: Members review their tutoring documentation during the November 13th advisory meeting. The club discussed upcoming competitions, including the Texas Math League and Mu Alpha Theta, while reinforcing the importance of mentoring and volunteer hours. Members are required to log weekly tutoring sessions to maintain active status in the club. “This helps us track our hours and stay committed," Princess Eche said.

Perfecting the Notes: Clarinet players Ifetayo Taiwo and Taylor Nguyen practice ahead of their Honor Band auditions. They dedicated hours of preparation on their clarinet pieces to ensure their performances stood out. “It’s an intense process, but I think it’s worth it to make it,” Taiwo said.
