Students receive awards at Fall Fiesta in San Antonio

Students from Kerr High School and Hastings High school attended the Texas Association of Journalism Educators Fall Fiesta in San Antonio from October 15 to October 17.

The following students took home awards:

Hard at Work: Manar Al-Gburi, Feliz De Jesus, and Sarah Abi Saab work on decorating the candy cane and tying them to cards. Each Santa Gram was sold for $1. "It was more fun than making Boo Grams," Al-Gburi said.

Listen Up: Guest Speaker Namra Hafeez informs MSA students about MIST. She goes over what to expect and how to prepare for the event. “I’m excited to represent Kerr at this year’s tournament,” President Iqra Naveed said.
MSA Hosts MIST Meeting
Strings in Harmony: Senior Tony Luong plays as first chair violin during the winter concert. He is a part of Cambiata Orchestra and they performed the Yuletide Celebration. "Playing the violin requires so much practice but it is always a rewarding experience," Luong said.
Orchestra Presents Winter Concert
Bring Out The Colors: Sophomore Helin Wang and vice president Jenny Nguyen work on poster. They are making advertisement posters for the Game Night that cover concessions and games that will be provided. “I was surprised to see how good all the posters were,” Nguyen said.
