Alief ISD will hold a bond election to fund a Kerr Fine Arts addition and other projects on Saturday, May 9. Any individual 18 years or older can vote, and the last day for voting registration is Thursday, April 9. Voting location will vary depending on the voters’ current resident.
The bond referendum was formed to meet the increasing need for renovations and new construction at Alief schools. The bond will total $341 millions over a period of six years.
For a taxpayer living in a home priced at $100,000 that qualifies for a homestead exemption, the approximated increase in taxes would be $6.02 per month, which is the price of a Venti Caramel Macchiato from Starbucks.
The plan will include, but is not limited to the following:
- Kerr High School Fine Arts addition
- Professional Learning Center/Performance Space
- Career Center
- Security entrances
- New receptions areas
- Electrical systems repairs
- Replacement school buses
