The Kerronicle print news magazine has earned a rating of Distinguished Merit and a Bronze Star award from the Interscholastic League Press Conference. The award was announced Sunday at the closing ceremony of the ILPC Spring Conference in Austin.
Distinguished Merit is the top rating category for student publications. A small percentage of publications that earn the rating are nominated for bronze, silver or gold stars, marking them as the top 10 percent of publications in the state.
Kerronicle has consistently received Distinguished Merit ratings for 10 of the past 12 years, but this is only the third Bronze Star it has received in that period. The publication previously received the awards in 2003 and 2009.
Also at the conference, Kerronicle.com, the online version of the newspaper, earned its first Distinguished Merit rating since it was created in 2005.
