Rush meetings for next week

September 6, 2013

Speech and Debate will have a general meeting on Monday, September 9.

Book Club is holding a rush meeting on Tuesday, September 10, at room #411, afterschool.

Christian Fellowship and Chess Club will be holding a meeting in Mr. Bolting’s room on September 10.

Gamers Club is having a rush meeting next Thursday, September 12.

FBLA will also have a meeting on September 12. The club will have two general meetings, the second and fourth thursdays of September.

Students for Humanity will be holding a meeting on September 12 as well.

Anime Club is having a RUSH meeting on Friday, September 13.

Bring Your Dish: ASA and Desi Club officers set up tables for members to enjoy the food. The cafeteria was cleared out, and the tables were arranged in a “U” shape to create a space for everyone to socialize. “It was a bit difficult setting everything up during fourth period, but we managed to finish in time,” Desi Club president Meerab Arif said.

Staying Prepared: Counselor Laura Tully speaks to seniors about applying for FAFSA/TASFA. Students are required to complete the form since it is a requirement for graduation. "Know that we're here to help," Tully said.

Geared Up: News reporter Brooke Kushwaha interviews Senior Iqra Naveed. Kushwaha asked questions about Naveed’s college application and what she is deciding to do after high school. “I wasn’t expecting anyone to interview me at the event, but it was fun,” Naveed said.
Alief Hosts Horus Scholars Event
Tracking Volunteer Contributions: Members review their tutoring documentation during the November 13th advisory meeting. The club discussed upcoming competitions, including the Texas Math League and Mu Alpha Theta, while reinforcing the importance of mentoring and volunteer hours. Members are required to log weekly tutoring sessions to maintain active status in the club. “This helps us track our hours and stay committed," Princess Eche said.
Math Club Prepares for Competitions
Perfecting the Notes: Clarinet players Ifetayo Taiwo and Taylor Nguyen practice ahead of their Honor Band auditions. They dedicated hours of preparation on their clarinet pieces to ensure their performances stood out. “It’s an intense process, but I think it’s worth it to make it,” Taiwo said.
