Choir students received 50 medals at Solo and Ensemble competition

February 22, 2016

In competition Feb. 20, choir and handbells students earned 20 superior ratings on class 1 solos, earning the chance to compete at state.

In addition, 10 students earned superior ratings on class 2 solos, nine earned superior on class 3 solos, and the handbells ensemble earned superior ratings.

State qualifiers are: Jannelly Areche; Hyacinth Barretto; Chioma Duru; Charlie Grisson; Kathryn Negri; Jemima Ng; Hong Nguyen; Kathy Nguyen; Vera Nweke; Feyisayo Ogunlana; Alex Parson; Andrea Pham; Chasity Tensley; Anh Tran; Serra Vu; Danish Hussain; Hoang Nguyen; Khuong Nguyen; Ricky Phan; Steven Tan.

Following hard sectional training, the band gathered for a full ensemble session, where they improved their synchronization and togetherness as a whole. Getting that time to work together as a whole really helps us bond and perform at our best, Raiyyan Khan said.

Voices of Alief Hosted a Meeting
Sip and Type Erica Carranza, Sarah Abi Saab, Abigail Nguyen, and Leah Ghebrelul meet up at Kims Tea House afterschool on Tuesday to prepare for a mock round on Thursday. During their time there, they researched the impacts of AI on disinformation. Im not the biggest fan of this motion, but Im still excited, Nguyen said.
