Students advance to regionals at UIL

March 30, 2015

UIL District academic competition was on Friday, March 27, and Saturday, March 28, at Dulles High School in Fort Bend ISD.

Three students will advance to regional competition in May.

The results are:

  • 1st place informative speaking: Jun Tan (Advancing to regionals)
  • 2nd place computer applications: My Quan (Advancing to regionals)
  • 3rd place computer applications: Cindy Truong (Advancing to regionals)
  • 3rd place current issues: Jun Tan (Advancing to regionals)
  • 4th place persuasive speaking: Misti Fulmer
  • 4th place poetry interpretation: Rem Aitbouchireb
  • 5th place prose interpretation: Jannette Nguyen
  • 6th place headline writing: Amy Haokip
  • Alternate in one act play: Cadre Kerr Theater Department
  • OAP Honorable All Star Cast Mentions: Danyal Syed, Melissa Ramos, and Alex Parson
  • OAP All Star Cast: Tadeo Vivero and Mariah Menedez
  • OAP Best Technician: Saira Martinez

Following hard sectional training, the band gathered for a full ensemble session, where they improved their synchronization and togetherness as a whole. Getting that time to work together as a whole really helps us bond and perform at our best, Raiyyan Khan said.

Voices of Alief Hosted a Meeting
Sip and Type Erica Carranza, Sarah Abi Saab, Abigail Nguyen, and Leah Ghebrelul meet up at Kims Tea House afterschool on Tuesday to prepare for a mock round on Thursday. During their time there, they researched the impacts of AI on disinformation. Im not the biggest fan of this motion, but Im still excited, Nguyen said.
